Depending on the arrival time you will either stay in the central valley or head directly to Manuel Antonio by ground or air transport. Once in Manuel Antonio you will encounter one of the most famous of beach and rain forest environments in the world with georgious green mountains spilling into the blue waters of the pacific. The conservation area of Manuel Antonio is one of the most important symbols of Costa Rica eco tourism.
There are a variety of activity options in Manuel Antonio including guided hikes of the Manuel Antonio National Park, sunset catamaran cruise, mangrove wildlife safari as well as white water rafting in the nearby Naranjo and Savegre rivers. One of the highlights of Manuel Antonio is the beautiful ocean views from many of the hilltop hotels.
After a few days of soaking up the beautiful views of Manuel Antonio the trip will continue down the pacific coast through small villages and farms. Although the road can be a little bumpy from time to time it will get better once you arrive to the Domincal area. The arrival to Cristal Ballena Hotel just outside of the village of Uvita will make the journy well worth it. A wonderful hotel with beautiful panoramic views of the pacific.
After a couple of days soaking up the views the journey will continue south to the village of Sirepe where you will board a boat that will navigate through rivers and estuaries and eventually to the Drake Bay located on the Pacific Ocean and on the edge of the Corcovado National Park the crown Jewel of the Costa Rica National Park system.
Being based in Drake Bay for a couple days should enable for lots opportunities for wildlife observation by land or by sea. There is more species diversity in this small area than any other location of similar size in the entire world. It is also where marine life from both the northern and southern hemispheres meet for anual mating.
After 3 days in the Drake Bay you will be flown back to San Jose for either an immediate international departure or a 1 night stay in the central valley area.
