Playa Ocotal is a quaint village just a few minutes south of the popular town of Playas del Coco. This is the largest village in the Guanacaste Province, and is replete with restaurants, bars, luxury and budget Hotels, discos, casinos and plenty of nightlife fun. Adjoining Playa Coco is the exotic beach of Playa Conchal, whose seashore is made up of millions of tiny, crushed shells. As if that were not enough to make this beach special, Conchal is also the only Pacific beach in Costa Rica that has clear, Caribbean waters. Bordering Conchal Beach is the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort where visitors can obtain a day pass for use of the grounds and access to their world class golf course.
Playa Ocotal is a wonderfully peaceful place to enjoy swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing in the sun. It is backed by hills and cliffs and just offshore are the Catalina Islands. This is a fantastic place to scuba dive with Manta Ray, schools of tropical fish as well as spot turtles, sharks and octopus. Also popular in the area is sport fishing, Surfing, Horseback riding and sailing.
The accommodations in Ocotal are varied, with primarily middle to upper range lodging options. Those on a tighter budget may find the nearby Playa Coco much more affordable. A bonus to these areas is that it is close to the Liberia International Airport and the city of Liberia which boasts all the amenities of a large city while retaining a more tranquil ambiance.
