Nosara Surf Guide
The beach appears endless and has many little spots to paddle out. Guillones has playful waves and consistently receives swell. This is the only break I’ve surfed in a foreign country where the people are predominantly gringos. A 20 minute walk north is Palada, a rocky reef right that can only be surfed on higher tides. Camaronal is a 30 minute drive south and can be tricky to find. This wave is hollow and should be surfed by the more experienced.
Nosara general is a unique beach community because the nature reserve and zoning laws prevent construction near the beach. The surrounding landscape has not been built up… yet. Walk on skinny paths past Howler Monkeys and multi-colored land crabs to reach the ocean. The hills have their fair share of expats of German, American, and French origin, who call Nosara home. There are also a surprising number of surf shops where rentals are available.
