The Sapo Dorado Hotel is located in the charming town of Monteverde, situated in the Tilaran Mountain range, northwest of San Jose. Monteverde is world renowned for its amazingly diverse cloud forest which is rich in bird species and rare flora and fauna. What sets this area apart is its Quaker inhabitants who settled here in the 1950´s to dairy farm, produce cheese and establish the Monteverde Cheese Factory.

Outdoor buffs will find themselves enthralled by the plethora of sights and excursions available here. The breathtaking Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is an ecological haven and wildlife sanctuary filled with well maintained trails and guides to take you Bird Watching. Also coast through the air on a zip line and walk across hanging bridges, both affording a bird's eye view of the forest. There are also a variety of Horseback riding options, ATV tours and Coffee plantation tours.

The Sapo Dorado is a beautiful mountain lodge surrounded by lush gardens. There are five kilometers of self-guided trails adjacent to the hotel where guests can explore both primary and secondary forests, open pastures and panoramic views of the Gulf of Nicoya. The hotel&s restaurant is known for its creativity, variety, flavor, freshness, and presentation and is open for all meals.

El Sapo Dorado offers guests the privacy and seclusion of 30 rustic, yet elegant mountain suites, each with its own entrance and balcony. The Sunset Terrace Suites feature an open-air terrace overlooking the Gulf of Nicoya. The Fountain Suites provide the privacy of a master bedroom, while the Classic Mountain Suites offer the coziness of a warming fireplace.

All the suites come with private bath with hot water shower, 2 queen-sized beds with orthopedic mattresses, versatile lighting, table and chairs and board games. Only Classic Mountain Suites have a fireplace.
