The Blue Jay Lodge is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, in Mal Pais. This area will surprise you with its population of young and happy free-spirits living in respectful harmony with the surroundings. Roaring waves break on the golden sandy beaches, considered to be among the best in the world for surfing. The beach is also full of quiet, secluded coves, reefs and tide pools that offer tranquility.

Let loose and have some fun in the sun and water. Those that love to venture out into the open waters should try an exciting sports fishing excursion. Also discover the beauty of the underwater world on a snorkeling trip or Scuba Diving adventure. The nearby Cabo Blanco National Park and Nature Reserve is excellent for Bird Watching, wildlife viewing, swimming and sunbathing with some of the most intense sunsets in Costa Rica.

The lodge is located just 200 meters from the beach and is complimented by ancient towering trees that are home to monkeys and tropical birds. The owners bought this piece of land and initiated a reforestation project from which they have used a small portion to detail the new bungalows, restaurant, beds and furniture in the lodge. Lounge in the wonderfully relaxing pool and poolside area, surrounded by natural beauty. The open-air restaurant prepares scrumptious fresh fish and meat dishes with Costa Rican flare as well as international cuisine.

Stay in one of the seven private bungalows, spaced out over 12 acres of land. The bungalows feature tropical palm roofs and charming rooms. Some bungalows are tucked farther up the hillside, offering a more intimate connection with nature. Each cabin has a private bathroom with shower and hot water, two beds, ceiling fan and balcony with two hammocks, perfect for wildlife viewing.
