Land Conservation
Casa Turire’s hotel property covers 80 hectares- one third of this land is made up of pastures for the horses and the rest (approximately 130 acres) is being re-forested with native species.
Recycling Program
Casa Turire’s recycling program collects paper, glass, and kitchen oil. Organic material is recycled in a garden compost pile. Recycling materials are donated to help raise funds for community organizations.
Waste/ Toxicity Reduction
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)
Dispensers have been installed on the washing machines to control the quantities used

Community Programs/Charity
Casa Turire is continuously working with different institutions from the surrounding community and beyond. It has raised funds for the Red Cross of la Suiza and given a computer to the local police. For its recycling program, it cooperates with a local school. Money collected from glass, cardboard, kitchen oil, and other recycling material goes to Asilo de Ancianos de Turrialba.
Additional Sustainability Steps
At least 50% of the vegetables used in the kitchen are freshly produced in the hotel’s gardens.
