Recycling Program
Hotel Capitán Suizo’s recycling program includes paper, aluminum, plastic, glass, organic waste, cardboard, and cooking oil. Collection bins are located throughout the hotel’s property and in the kitchen and guest rooms. Staff of the hotel have received recycling training from students at EARTH university.

Wastewater is treated with Efficient Microorganisms (EM)
Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap).
No bleach or phosphate-containing soaps
No chemical products are used in the gardens; the hotel produces and uses its own fertilizer
Community Programs / Charity
Through the Small Distinctive Hotels organization Hotel Capitán Suizo makes regular donations to Pro Parques and Casa Luz (Lighthouse), which helps and protects low income teenager mothers. The hotel has also been paying the private education and transport needs of a local teenager since he started elementary school. It is organizing an environmental education program in two local schools, and it participates in the Tamarindo beach cleaning programs every month.
