From the seed to the cup, the Doka Estate Coffee tour will teach you everything you need to know about how coffee is grown and made. The tour begins in the seedbed, where expert guides will speak about the varieties and growing habits of coffee plants, as well as the local history and geography of coffee production.
The next stop is the processing plant, which is very old and was, in fact, declared to be an Architectural Heritage for Humanity site in 2003. Here you’ll observe the process of de-pulping and fermenting the grains, which readies them to be peeled and then exported or roasted in the country. Finally, you will visit the roasting plant Café Tres Generaciones and learn about the various roasts that are offered before finishing at the gift shop with the option of sampling the eight different blends made at Doka Estate.
Monday through Friday, tours leave at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. On Saturdays and Sundays tours times are at the same with, except there are no 3:30 pm tours.

Traveler Comments
The entire experience at Doka was great. I only wished I purchased more coffee!
Mario was an excellent driver. He even arrived early and once again, the van was immaculate. The tour of Doka estate was well worth the effort. The tour was very informative and our docent spoke English very well. He guided our group through the various stages of coffee production. We stopped here on our way to La Fortuna. The tour took about two hours. Following the tour, participants had the opportunity to sample coffee, and of course, make some purchases.
Very relaxed and well paced tour. Informative and it was great being able to sample the coffees.
