Energy Conservation
Linens and laundry are air-dried
LED lamps and low-watt fluorescent light bulbs make up 80% of the hotel's light bulbs
Energy efficiency is taken into account for new purchases of refrigerators and computers
In low season, power to the villas is completely shut down by sectors

Water Conservation
Linens are changed every 3 days unless otherwise requested
Low-flow sinks (max flow 2.75 gpm) and showerheads (max flow 2.75 gpm)

Land Conservation

Xandari Resort & Spa protects 4 acres of their property. The land use to be coffee plantations, and it is currently being reforested to become part of the surrounding mountain forest. On the land, there are trails for guests to visit the area's waterfalls. The hotel aims not to leave bare soil areas in their property so as to prevent soil erosion.

Recycling Program
Xandari Resort & Spa recycling program collects paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and Tetra Pak materials for onward shipment to the collection center. Organic waste is used to produce compost. Collection bins for the recycling are located in the kitchen, guest rooms, and reception. The hotel employees have been active participants in recycling, with many of them recycling in their homes and some starting their own collection center.

Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
Environmentl friendly cleaning products from Proquimia, Quimisur, Quinagro, Lemen, etc
Cholorine-free swimming pool with a salt treatment system

Community Programs / Charity
Xandari Resort & Spa makes annual financial donations to Fundacion Restauración de la Naturaleza, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and wildlife, the money goes toward managing a wildlife sanctuary called Zoo Ave. The hotel also makes donations to the local school, church, and local road maintenance projects by the Community Development Association. Bed linens in good shape are donated to organizations in the area.

Additional Sustainability Steps
Xandari Resort and Spa maintains its own gardens, which produce about 15% of the hotel's food. The hotel's reforestation program allows guests and staff the opportunity to plant a tree. 90% of the hotel employees are from local villages (this includes the hotel manager). The use of air conditioning in the rooms is not necessary due to their design.
