Lying only 20 minutes from the capital city of San José, Alajuela is in fact the second largest city in Costa Rica. It has several points of interest, including an outdoor Saturday market, a mango-lined central park, and a 19th century cathedral. Zoos and butterfly gardens can be toured in the area surrounding the city, and trips to the nearby Poás and Irazu volcanoes can be arranged as well. The city offers an assortment of amenities and services, including shops, restaurants, bars, discos and more.

With a flowering garden, beautiful wooden furniture, and lots of open-air spaces, the atmosphere at Villa Dolce is warm and peaceful. A swimming pool sits surrounded by an oasis of vegetation, while the restaurant and reception areas are set in an artfully restored Costa Rican home.

The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated with rich wooden furniture, colorful tiled floors, and ample windows. Each includes a queen size bed (with an orthopedic mattress), air-conditioning, ceiling fan, private hot water bathroom, cable TV, telephone, wireless internet, and hair dryer. Additionally there are six large, fully furnished villas that can house up to five people.

Guests can dine at Villa Dolce’s restaurant and sit in the open-air terrace that overlooks the pool and garden. The restaurant serves up tasty food in a traditional Italian style—whether it’s the caprese or pasta alfredo, lasagna or sirloin steak, guests will undoubtedly be pleased with the fine dining at this restaurant. Dinners can be complimented with a carefully selected red, rose or white Italian wine, as well as a variety of other beverages.
Additionally, every morning a free continental breakfast of eggs and fresh fruit is offered.

The amiable staff at Villa Dolce is happy to help, and is fluent in Spanish, Italian and English. Tour and car rental information is available at the front desk, and the hotel runs a free airport shuttle from 6 AM to 8 PM.
