Hotel Luisiana is situated near the Santa Ana business center in the capital city of San Jose, part of Costa Rica Central Valley. San Jose has virtually every amenity that travelers could desire, and serves as a wonderful location from which to launch trips to other parts of the country.
San Jose serves mainly as a gateway into some of the country's more popular destinations, although it does have a certain charm of its own. There is a wide selection of restaurants, including Peruvian, Italian, Mediterranean and Indian cuisine. Also to be experienced are some pedestrian shopping streets and a wide selection of bars, discos and clubs. Traveler services abound, including public transportation throughout much of the country, car rental companies and tour operators.
Hotel Luisiana is a lovely boutique hotel set in a 60-year-old Luisiana-styled home. Not surprisingly, the original owner was from Luisiana, and modeled his home after the fashions particular to that time and place arched entryways, vaulted ceilings and large verandas all abound. The hotel's current owners are Italian, and have brought with them the Italian sensibilities care of small details, fine cuisine and elegant lighting that are native to their homeland. This being the case, Hotel Luisiana is a charming mix between the new and old, traditional and modern, and will delight all who choose to stay here.
The hotel 12 rooms are gorgeously decorated with fine tiles and colorful artwork, and allow a good amount of light to enter the room. Every room is equipped with air-conditioning, a flat screen TV, mini fridge, wireless internet, and a private hot water bathroom. Large outdoor terraces extend the reach of each room, with wonderful views of the mountains in the distance. One room, located on the first floor, is handicap accessible.
Hotel Luisiana has an intimate restaurant that serves up a variety of tasty food throughout the day. A number of different breakfast options are offered from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, including American style (eggs, bacon, coffee, fruit and juice), Continental style (cereal, fruit, toast, marmalade and juice) and Italian style (cappuccino or Italian espresso, croissant, orange juice and homemade biscuits). An extensive menu is available for both lunch and dinner, much of which is influenced by fine Italian cuisine. The restaurant, located on the ground floor, is decorated with natural stonework, and is open in the evenings from 6-9 PM.
