Travel through rural Costa Rica on this fantastic mountain biking excursion and experience the Northern Volcanic Range, and tropical beaches on our Pacific Coast. Visit the amazing Rio Celeste (Blue River) and finish it all with a great seafood dinner on a tropical beach.
Volcanoes, Forest and Beach- 7 day trip
Difficulty level is easy to intermediate and is on mostly rural gravel and dirt roads.
Day 1- Arrival
Your guide will be awaiting your arrival at the airport to transport you to our hotel surrounded by coffee and sugar cane plantations. It is found at the foothills of the Poas Volcano where we'll fit bikes in the afternoon and delight in a typical dinner.
Day 2- La Tigra – Fortuna Hot Springs
After a lovely breakfast we'll head off to the quiet village of La Tigra where we'll begin our scenic bike ride towards the majestic Arenal volcano. The evening will bring us to the fabulous Eco Termales Hot Springs where we'll also enjoy a delicious homemade dinner, a perfect ending to an active day.
Day 3- Fortuna-Tronadora
Today we'll take in the sights of the regal Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Our guides will take you on a trail around the Southern Shore of the lake through secondary forests and over several streams; a purely scenic adventure.
Day 4- Tierras Morenas-Tenorio Volcano
Traveling away from the Arenal area we'll make our way to the Northern Guanacaste Volcanic Range. Tonight we stay in the middle of a family run working ranch where we'll enjoy a hearty dinner.
Day 5- Rio Celeste
A guided hike on the slopes of the Tenorio Volcano to the magnificent Rio Celeste (Blue River) is what's on the schedule today. After the hike and lunch we'll jump back on our bikes and ride downhill to the town of Bagaces. Dramatic scenic change is in store for you as we transition from lush rainforest to the brownish tropical dry forest. This afternoon we'll shuttle to the charming beach town of Samara, popular amongst surfers.
Day 6- Samara Beach Loop Ride
We'll bike along quiet rural roads taking in the gorgeous beaches of Costa Rica. This evening we'll enjoy a beautiful sunset and a splendid farewell seafood dinner.
Day 7- Return to San Jose
With the morning left open, spend it on a last ride or time at the beach. The afternoon will take us back to San Jose via private shuttle.
