"We loved this spot - we really felt we were getting away from it all. The grounds are beautiful and we hiked all around the area - not to mention we saw two quetzals! We did npt have lunch at the hotel as we cannot do three buffets in a day. It would be nice to have another option for a smaller meal."

Trogon Lodge
Explore this lush forest area on an early bird watching tour where you may catch a glimpse of the resplendent Quetzal. Ride along the beautiful valley of San Gerardo de Dota on a relaxing horseback riding tour or hike alongside a knowledgeable guide into the forest and to one of the beautiful waterfalls in the area.
The Trogon Lodge is a 105 acre farm, located at an altitude of 700 feet. Its misty and beautiful surroundings provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Visitors can also enjoy the lookout point for great forest views as well as hike one of the three nature trails. The "El Quetzal' restaurant serves delicious homemade, family style meals. For those that wish to catch their dinner and have the chef prepare it, there is a trout pond in front of the restaurant for fishing.
The lodge, surrounded by lush gardens, offers 10 rustic and very comfortable cabins. Each cabin is complete with heating, private baths and a view of the Savegre River or the dazzling forest.

"Food was excellent and grounds were beautiful. The rooms were a little chilly after the sun went down, but we appreciated the hot water bottles that were put in our bed while we were at dinner, and the staff coming round to light the room heater."
