Savegre Mountain Hotel Sustainability
Solar panels are used for some of the rooms' water heaters. The panels provide approximately 10% of the hotel's energy. In the near future, the hotel plans on expanding this system.

Land Conservation
Savegre Hotel protects 650 acres of land; this represents 55% of its property. In this area, biological, botanical, and ornithology research studies are carried out. There are also hiking trails for guests. The hotel is in the process of reforesting areas that were pastures in the past.
Recycling Program
The recycling program at Hotel Savegre includes paper, aluminum, plastic, and glass. Organic waste is used to produce compost. Collection bins are located throughout the hotel’s property and in the kitchen and guest rooms.
Waste / Toxicity Reduction
Wastewater is treated by oxidation systems and efficient microorganisms (EM)
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)

Community Programs / Charity
Hotel Savegre makes a donation of $1 to La Lidia school per bag of Savegre Coffee sold (its own brand). The hotel takes advantage of the sustainability training they receive to teach the students of La Lidia school about sustainability.
Additional Sustainability Steps
The hotel protects the natural sources of water on its property. It has earned the Ecological Blue Flag Award (Bandera Azul Ecológica) from the AyA.
