Renewable Energy
Solar panels provide 35% of the hotel’s electricity needs. The panels are located on the roof of the rooms, and the energy they provide is used to heat guest room water.
Water Conservation
Signs in the rooms encourage the reuse of linens and towels
Low-flow sinks and showerheads in all bathrooms (max flow 2.75 gpm)
All dinning tables are set without table clothes
The piping system undergoes monthly checks to find leaks

Recycling Program
Plastic, paper, aluminum, glass, batteries, metal, light bulbs are collected for recycling. Organic waste is used to make fertilizer in a worm compost system. Collection bins are located in the kitchen and in guest rooms.

Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)

No swimming pool
Land Conservation
Dantica Lodge protects 20 hectacres of land, which represents 90% of their property. This area is made up of a private reserve with upper montane cloud forest, and it is part of the Los Santos Forest Reserve.
Community Programs / Charity
Dantica Lodge makes annual financial donations to Proreformas in San Gerardo de Dota to help keep the roads in good condition. It also provides staff to Proreformas and Los Quetzales National Park for conservation and maintenance work.
Additional Sustainability Steps
Dantica Lodge participates in a reforestation program that has planted more than 200 trees this year. The lodge identifies native plant species and places signs for guests. The lodge is also participating in the Bandera Ecologica Azul environmental program.
