Land Conservation
All primary and secondary forest on the Borinquen Resort property is protected. The property encompasses 502 acres, 30% of which is protected. Additionally, the hotel is participating in reforestation efforts.
Recycling Program
Borinquen Resort’s recycling program includes paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, and compost. Collection bins are located throughout the hotel’s property and in the kitchen. The staff is in constant training about recycling, and they work with the local school and Cañas Dulces community to collect and select the recycling materials.

Only reusable and durable cups are provided
Shampoos and conditioners are placed in reusable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap is used (laundry detergent, dish soap, hand and body soap) Cleaning Cleaning agents are certified 100% biodegradable products from Ecolab

Community Programs / Charity
Borinquen Resort makes financial or charity donations a few times every year to Manos Bondadosas (Caring Hands.) It donates to a shelter for children and the elderly and to local schools. The hotel also encourages their staff to be part of community by helping in the renewal of school, church, and park infrastructure.
Additional Sustainability Steps
The hotel has created a program that collects seeds of native tree species for use in reforestation.
