Korrigan Lodge

Puerto Viejo is an eclectic mix of Afro-Caribbean, European, tico, and Bribri Indians. Add to this the scores of international travelers who come to visit and you have the makings for a very unique place. The town’s restaurants are tasty and varied, and there are all plenty of stores to shop in. White-sand beaches spread across the coast and there are parks and wildlife refuges nearby.

The Korrigan Lodge is a nice distance from Puerto Viejo – a location that is calm and quiet, but still within reach of the town’s amenities. The grounds bloom with tropical plants and flowers, and there are trails that wind through the forest. In the early morning or late evening, the birding is good, and you can occasionally spot monkeys up in the trees. 

The bungalows are individually crafted and aesthetically appealing. Privacy is the norm here, and each bungalow comes with a front porch that is a nice spot to relax outdoors. Comfortable beds and wooden furniture decorate the inside, and skylights let in natural light from overhead. All bungalows have a hot water bathroom, mosquito nets, and a hammock. There are also large towels for guests to use when lying out on the nearby beach.

Guests are served a complementary breakfast each morning that consists of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, sausage/bacon, fresh bread, and guava juice. Needless to say, it’s an awesome way to start the day.
 
The owners of the Korrigan Lodge are extremely friendly and go out of their way to ensure that every guest has a pleasant experience while staying at their hotel. From their rental bicycles to the advice they give on local activities, their warmth and involvement goes a long way.
