A note encourages guests to only request fresh linens and towels when necessary by placing the note on the bed and towels on the floor

Recycling Program
Recycling bins have been placed in the kitchen, administrative offices, and staff areas to separate paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and organic materials. The organic material is used to produce compost for the gardens, while food waste is given to micro entrepreneurs that raise pigs. All the other collected materials are donated to the students of Primary School Puerto Potrero.

Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)
Environmental cleaning agents are purchased from a certified company
Community Programs/ Charity
The hotel helped repair the roof of the local kindergarten, and it supports the Children’s Day celebration in Playa Potrero Elementary School. It offers free dinner raffles to raise funds for improvement of the school infrastructure. The children are encouraged to participate in the hotel’s ecological blue flag program.
Additional Sustainability Steps
The hotel works mainly with regional suppliers and offers tours and cultural activities to visitors. It is an advocate of turtle nest protection on its beach. The hotel staff contributes to the Blue Flag program and tree planting. Other hotel projects that have been planned in a short and medium term period are: replacing electrical appliances (such as AC) with an ENERGY STAR qualified model, and creating a grey water treatment plant in about three years.
