Guanacaste Snorkeling

Guanacaste Snorkeling

Playa Ocotal’s pristine waters are usually fairly calm, so the wildlife here gets to live a fairly peaceful existence. Because of this, Playa Ocotal has the ideal atmosphere for snorkeling.

Your snorkeling trip will depart from the beach. Scuba divers will probably be along for the ride; they visit the same site, but dive deeper. The captain driving the boat will be a dive master, and can answer any questions you have about the area.

The water here is a deep shade of blue-green, and is clear enough for you to see 30 to 60 feet (9 m to 18 m) away. On a snorkeling trip you’re likely to spot octopus, scorpion fish, spotted puffer fish, zebra moray, and spotted eagle ray.

What to Bring

Sunscreen, towel, a swim suit, and a change of clothes.

What's included

Transportation in the Playa Ocotal area and a professional dive master guide.

Transportation

Many of our tours and activities offer transportation pick up & drop off options from several locations and destinations. Options vary by tour, see “BOOKING REQUEST” for full details.

Traveler Comments

The staff was great. We went out with scuba divers so we were very far out, great activity!

On this tour you will go for a nighttime walk on the beaches of Marino Las Baulas National Park to look for green turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. Instead of the park’s heavily trafficked Playa Grande, you will head for the lesser-known Minas or Jesus Nombre beaches.
