Guanacaste Sport Fishing
Both the full day and half day fishing excursions begin from the Ocotal Beach Resort, situated along the Papagayo Gulf in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.
Guanacaste Sport Fishing
Sailfish, marlin, roosterfish, mahi-mahi, tuna, and over 15 species of other fish are found in the waters off Ocotal. Sailfish, which usually range from 90-110 lbs, are best captured from April to September. Black marlin, which range from 300-400 lbs, are best caught from April to August, with the peak weeks occurring during May. Blue and striped marlin, which generally run between 100-300 lbs, are best fished from December to March. Roosterfish, which range between 30-80 lbs, can be caught year-round. Mahi-mahi weigh in anywhere from 5-50 lbs, and are best caught from spring to late fall. Yellowfin tuna generally range from 10-50 lbs, and are best fished from May through November. Cubera snapper and amberjack can be caught all year round.
Ocotal strongly believes in the preservation of the ocean's resources, and as such, encourages that all billfish and non-edible catches be released.
What to bring: sunscreen, change of clothes, towel, swimming suit, hat, binoculars, and camera.
Tour includes: standard room and breakfast, lunch, tackle, soft drinks, fruit, water, beer, and all taxes.
