"honestly, the bed was a bit uncomfortable, but we didn't expect a down mattress for this discount hostel. everything else so far surpassed our expectations that we didn't care about the bed. the staff knew we were honeymooning and gave us a room with the most beautiful view of the ocean. we saw a gorgeous sunset. we saw our very first kuatamundi and white faced monkeys of the trip, and the staff gave us bananas to feed them! we were also surprised and impressed with the night tour of the jungle. fantastic! big bang for our buck."

"Really liked this hotel and it felt authentic, just what we were looking for. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast very tasty and the rooms were very comfortable and modest . I loved that there was room to throw a football around on the grounds, that there was internet access, that the night hike was right there, the great view and that the way it's situated we got to meet other travelers. "

Monteverde Inn
The Monteverde Inn is conveniently located on the Hidden Valley farm, a 12 hectare sanctuary of primary and secondary forest with private trails. This is a quiet location, great for bird watching and visiting the butterfly garden next door. You'll find three buildings offering simple accommodations with wonderful views of the primary cloud forest as well as the Nicoya Peninsula. Rooms come complete with single or double beds and shared or private bathrooms. There is also an equipped cabin, complete with a kitchen and two private bedrooms, each with a private bathroom.

"I would HIGHLY recommend Monterverde in as it where the night tour takes place. There are also free trail of secondary forest to hike through. I saw agoutis, motmots, coatis, dozens of different moths and butterflies, capuchins, great scenic vistas, and strangler figs that were several centuries old."
