Mist-filled rainforests, lush mountaintops, and a chance to see the much endangered resplendent Quetzal await visitors to Monteverde. Settled between two primary cloud forest reserves, Monteverde offers up virgin woodlands, excellent wildlife viewing, views of the Arenal Volcano, and on a clear day, the chance to see both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. Other popular activities include canopy tours, horseback rides, walks along suspension bridges, and visits to both butterfly and hummingbird gardens. The small town of Santa Elena, which borders Monteverde, is replete with a variety of gift shops, restaurants, cafes, and tour services. 

Set on 13 acres of protected land, the Hidden Canopy Hotel borders the biological corridor of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Colorful, tropical birds are a common sight, as are beloved Morpho butterflies—colored with metallic, shimmering shades of blue and green, these butterflies are (understandably) the pride and joy of Costa Ricans. Fine gardens and koi ponds dot the hotel’s property, which furnishes spectacular views of the Gulf of Nicoya.  

The Hidden Canopy Hotel is just what its name says it is – set in the mountains at an elevation of 1,530 feet, the hotel is composed mainly of a series of private treehouse chalets. The chalets are lifted high into the forest canopy, with platform walkways leading into each accommodation. All six of the chalets are at once comfortable and stylish, equipped with oversize beds, stone showers, living areas, and treetop balconies—needless to say, the view from these balconies is incredible. In addition to the chalets, the hotel offers two rooms in the main house. Lacking only the treetop setting, these rooms are furnished just as comfortably as the chalets. 

A hearty, traditional Costa Rican breakfast is served every morning (included in the price of a room), while baked goods and tea are offered throughout the afternoon and evening. The hotel’s friendly staff is happy to recommend activities and tours, or provide general information about Costa Rica and its inhabitants. Hidden Canopy is located less than 2 miles (3 km) from the center of Santa Elena.

Accommodations
Hidden Canopy offers both private treehouse chalets and individual rooms, which are located in the main house. All rooms and chalets come equipped with a mini-bar, coffee bar, in-room safe, hairdryer and private bathroom. 

Treehouse Chalets:
Rising Sun – this two-person treehouse features a king size bed, sitting area with forest views, and a hanging basket chair. It is wheelchair accessible. 
Glade – this two-person treehouse features a king size bed, sitting area with forest views, several skylights, and an outdoor balcony.  
Neverland – this two level treehouse features two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, a living room, and 1.5 bathrooms. Each level has its own balcony. Additionally, there is an outdoor koi pond, and wonderful views of both the forest and the Gulf of Nicoya. 
Eden – this romantic, two-person treehouse features two levels. The upper floor is equipped with both living and sitting areas, as well as two balconies. The lower level features a bedroom with a king size canopy bed, fireplace, and private bathroom. The bathroom offers forest views, and is equipped with both a private Jacuzzi set on a garden balcony and a separate stone shower. 

Main House:
Cloud – this room features a king size bed, desk area, and a private balcony with views of the Gulf of Nicoya. 
Garden Paradise – this room features a queen size canopy bed, sitting area, and a stunning view of the Gulf of Nicoya.
