Recycling Program
The recycling program at Flor Blanca Resort includes paper, aluminum, plastic, glass, and organic waste. Collection bins are located throughout the hotel’s property and in the kitchen and guest rooms. Cooking oil is given to a member of the community that uses it to produce biodiesel.

Community Programs / Charity
Through the Small Distinctive Hotels organization Flor Blanca Resort contributes to associations like Fundación Pro Parques (Parks Foundation) and Casa Luz (Light House), which helps teenage mothers. Flor Blanca also makes donations to associations such as Probienestar Malpaís. It supported Cóbano High School with the design of a biofilter for wastewater, and it supported a program for prevention of dengue. The hotel provides an English teacher and education materials to Santa Teresa school. It supports local athletics, including a soccer team and a day of sport. The hotel also supports MOPT in community infrastructure development, such as the building of bridge and installation of speed-limit road signs. It participates in beach cleaning campaigns, and it has helped to organize educational fairs for the community.
Additional Sustainability Steps
Flor Blanca Resort has an organic nursery of native trees and ornamental plants. It serves organic tea and coffee, and its fish comes from local vendors.
