Energy Conservation
Energy-efficient light bulbs have been installed in all rooms
Maximum energy demand has been lowered by programming devices to spread energy-consumption over a 24-hour clock

Water Conservation
The waste water treatment plants allows water to be recycled for use in watering the gardens and washing sidewalks and vehicles
Every room has notices requesting that guests participate in the re-use of linens
Low-flow sinks (max flow 2.75 gpm) and showerheads (max flow 2.75 gpm)
Dinning tables are set without table clothes
Recycling Program
Paper, plastic, aluminum, and glass are collected in the kitchen and guest accommodations
Waste/ Toxicity Reduction
Wastewater treatment uses sand and biological filters, followed by ozone and ultraviolet light applications
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)
Biodegradable cleaning products are purchased from ProQuimia
Chlorine-free swimming pool
Community Programs/Charity
Club del Mar makes monthly contributions to the Red Cross for Lifeguards and Ambulance as well as the Josefina Ugalde de Quebrada Ganado Senior Center. Club del Mar financed a microbus for transport of the seniors. It has made many generous donations to local schools, including: DVD players, computers, materials for teaching English, and even the salary of an English teacher. Staff members are also encouraged to take an active role in the community. Club del Mar has a staff member on a number of local committees including the Security and Social Development Committee (CIDS), Comite para Aguas Residuales (Wastewater Committee), and the Bandera Azul committee for clean beaches. Other staff members participate in beach clean-up and tree planting.
