Arenal is a fun place to visit. For one thing, your time here will be spent beneath the shadow of the picture-perfect Arenal Volcano—your camera will undoubtedly be full of photos of this stunning volcano. You can go hiking in rainforests and take guided hikes to search for birds and other wildlife. Ride horses through the countryside or visit the La Fortuna Waterfall, a spectacular fall that plummets some 200 feet (65 m) into a cool pool below. And after a long day spent exploring the outdoors, relax completely in one of the area’s many hot springs.
Heliconias Nature Inn is a peasant hotel set on the outskirts of Arenal. The hotel is surrounded by lush plants and has a relaxed, outdoorsy setting—guests can even enjoy bird watching on the hotel grounds.
The rooms here are rustic and intimate. There are two types of rooms available—treehouse rooms and bungalow rooms.
The four treehouse rooms are surrounded by trees and overlook the hotel gardens. Three of the tree houses are set 10 feet (3 m) off the ground, while one is 20 feet (6 m) off the ground. Each of the tree houses have a single double bed.
The six bungalow rooms are individual wooden cabins. All hotel accommodations have a private bathroom with a hot water shower. There is air conditioning and a fan to keep the rooms cool, and a mini-fridge where you can store drinks and snacks. The accommodations also have wide internal spaces and balconies where you can enjoy the outdoors. Bungalow rooms have two double beds.
During downtime, guests can head to the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool. The pool is clean and refreshing, a perfect place to cool off or soak up sun. The pool is suitable for both children and adults. When hunger strikes, you can find a variety of tasty meals at the onsite restaurant. The restaurant serves authentic Costa Rica food at affordable prices.

The best accommodations of the trip. Felt like family by the time our visit was over. Staff was friendly and so very helpful. Even opened the kitchen 30 minutes early one day to make sure we had breakfast before our activity. Super people!
Out of the way from the bustle of La Fortuna. Very quiet and empty while we were there. Very friendly family run resort and restaurant. Tree house experience was worth the drive.
Wonderful! Would highly recommend it! Family owned and cared for -- the treehouse was amazing! And the birds there are beautiful!
