"What fun!!!! The guide was polite and funny. I love him, he thought my Spanish was fantastic. The scenery was beautiful, everyone should travel around the mountains by horse. The tourism vehicle ride up the mountain was awesome. The cows grazing on vertical terraine was unbelieveable - we don't have cows like that in the USA. Climbing higher and higher was just breath taking."

Arenal to Monteverde Horseback Tour (Lake Route) Details
To begin this adventure tour and transfer combination, you will be picked up from your Arenal hotel by a minivan and driven to the Arenal Dam. You will then board a comfortable, covered power boat. The next 30 minutes will present you with the special opportunity of viewing the volcano and its surrounding beauty from the picturesque Arenal Lake.
Upon arrival, you will be met by your horses and begin the two and a half hour horseback portion of your trip. You will journey through lush rainforest, tropical jungle and farmlands, leading you to the Arenal Lake for surreal views of the towering Arenal Volcano. Along the way you may spot some wildlife, so stay alert! This portion of the trip will take you to the lakeside town of Rio Chiquito.
This trip is suitable for inexperienced riders and can usually be navigated safely, even in rainy season. Your horseback ride includes a 30 minute picnic lunch stop.
In Rio Chiquito you will be reunited with your luggage and greeted by a comfortable boat, ready to get you started on the final leg of your trip. The short lake cruise offers great views of the volcano and the forested mountain range spanning the horizon. There is also a chance to see a variety of wetland birds. Once you reach the opposite lake shore, you will be taken by van directly to your hotel in Monteverde, this last portion of the trip takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.
All boats and mini-vans are comfortable, safe and fully insured. The drivers, boat captains and tour guides carry cell phones and can contact the main office at any point.
