20 watt light bulbs outside of rooms
Computers and televisions are energy-efficient models

Water Conservation

Encourages the reuse of linens and towels
Low-flow toilets in all bathrooms (max of 1.6 gallons/flush)
All dinning tables are set without table clothes

Land Conservation
Volcano Lodge protects 15 acres of land, representing 50% of its property. This area consists of gardens and a micro reserve.

Recycling Program
Volcano Lodge collects paper, glass, aluminum, plastic, and organic waste for recycling. Collection bins are located near the swimming pool and the hotel’s offices. The guest room garbage is sorted by the staff for recyclable materials.

Waste / Toxicity Reduction

Wastewater is treated in oxidation and sedimentation ponds
Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)

Community Programs / Charity
Volcano Lodge makes monthly financial donations to La Fortuna Development Association, La Fortuna School, an association against cancer, and Hogares Crea.
