Land Conservation
Arenal Country Inn protects 30 acres of land, compromising 30% of its property. Bird watching activities are carried out in this area.
Recycling Program
Arenal Country Inn collects paper and plastic materials for recycling. Organic waste is used to produce fertilizer. Collection bins are located in the kitchen, in public areas next to the guest rooms, and around the pool area.
Waste / Toxicity Reduction
Only durable and reusable drinking cups are provided
Shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are placed in re-usable containers and refilled
100% biodegradable soap (laundry detergent, dish soap, and hand/body soap)
Environment friendly cleaning agents (but chlorine is used in small amounts)
No fungicides, insecticides, or other chemicals for garden maintenance
Communal Programs / Charity
Arenal Country Inn makes an annual financial donation to a local school or association. This past year, they gave to Los Angeles High School in La Fortuna. The hotel owners are also actively involved in the Rotary Club and the Atjalá Association for Children with Physical or Mental Disability.

Arenal Country Inn is in the early stages of developing a hydroponic vegetable garden. The Operations Manager is an Agriculture Engineer trained in sustainable development issues and hydroponics.
