I came to Costa Rica in 2006 to study Tropical Biology and Spanish. The richness of species there astounded me; when I left the country I was already impatient to return. The ants, bats, and hummingbird species impressed me particularly--not to mention the country's forests and landscapes. I have long had an interest in environmental issues, but my experiences in Monteverde and the other regions I travelled brought me to understand that studying biology was no longer just an interest, and writing no longer my only concentration. I graduated from Kenyon College, where I studied English, Environmental Studies, and Biology. I am continually interested in pursuing field research and poetry, playing Gamelan music, Ultimate Frisbee, and of course, anything related to Costa Rica.
