The national park system in Costa Rica is a network of protected rain forests, tropical dry forests, cloud forests, marine areas and wet lands. Costa Rica is the world leader in conservation policies with total protected areas encompassing over 25% of the total land mass the highest percentage in the world. The best way to support these progressive and sustainable policies is to visit at least one of the national parks during your visit, all fees and donations support the local community and the maintenance of the park. Be sure to check out our Costa Rica Parks, Rivers, and Reserves Map to see the locations of these attractions.
